Beaverton School District wants 200 new or gently used winter coats donated at 14 area schools by Friday, Oct. 30.
The district's Clothes for Kids program has teamed up with Toyota for the drive, called "Spread the Warmth." Coats collected will go to BSD students in need.
BSD families can drop off coats at these participating schools: Bethany, Cedar Mill, Fir Grove, Findley, Jacob Wismer, Montclair, Nancy Ryles, Raleigh Park, Rock Creek, Sato, Springville, West TV, Five Oaks and Mountainside High School.
Community members who are not BSD families have three additional drop-off spots:
- Clothes for Kids, 16550 SW Merlo Rd.
- Beaverton Toyota, 4300 SW Murray Blvd.
- Beaverton School District Administration Office, 1260 NW Waterhouse Ave.
The Merlo Road location houses the district's permanent donation bins, open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for holidays, according to the district's program page.
Clothes for Kids is a supplemental, donation-based resource and may not be able to meet all student needs, the district says. BSD families can schedule an appointment through ParentSquare or by calling 503-356-4322 to visit once per semester, up to two visits per school year. The program limits families to one winter coat per student per year due to limited supply.
Beyond the coat drive, the program has ongoing needs: new underwear and socks for all ages, pants for elementary-aged students in sizes 5–12 and coats for elementary students in those same sizes. Donors can also shop the program's Amazon wishlist and have items shipped directly to the Merlo Road location.
The Oct. 30 deadline applies to the Toyota-partnered coat drive.
