Margie Templeton won Best of Show for her piece "Red Door at Seal Rock" at the Village Gallery of Arts Fall Awards Show in Cedar Mill.

Judge Kristina Sellers selected Templeton's work from roughly 40 two-dimensional entries submitted by gallery members, according to results posted by the gallery on Oct. 21. Gallery president Aleksa Wood posted the winners' names and artwork titles on the gallery's website.

Ana Roeszler took second place for "Finn X 4." Liz Walker placed third with "Kitchen Contessa." Walker is an acrylic marbling painter and instructor in Portland who teaches classes and workshops, according to a 2024 profile in Cedar Mill News.

Three artists earned honorable mentions: Karen Peterkort for "Nest 1," Ric Ferrin for "Tat Kuang Si Waters" and Vicki Szukalla for "Summer Garden."

Six winners. Roughly 40 entries. All two-dimensional work.

Sellers, a plein air oil painter, described her approach on the gallery's judge profile page. "If I can capture the unique spirit of a single day, it is a day well spent," she wrote. Sellers said her artistic journey began after taking a plein air class from painter Eric Jacobsen, calling it a "profound 'Aha!' moment" that led her to years of workshops and constant painting.
