One person died Tuesday, Sept. 22, in a car-motorcycle crash at NW Germantown Road and NW Kaiser Road near Bethany. The intersection sits just north of the Multnomah-Washington county line.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) confirmed the fatality in a post on X at about 5:09 p.m. The crash, first reported by KGW, occurred in the Forest Park area on the Multnomah County side of the border.
The sheriff's office has not identified the person who died. It has not said how many people were involved, what caused the collision, or which vehicle the fatality was in.
The MCSO East County Vehicular Crimes Team responded to investigate.
During the investigation, Kaiser Road was closed from NW Brooks Road to NW Ridgeline Street. Germantown Road was closed from NW Skyline Boulevard to NW 185th Avenue. The sheriff's office said the intersection reopened around 8:22 p.m. Tuesday.
Recent fatal motorcycle crashes in the area
The collision is at least the fourth fatal motorcycle crash in the broader Bethany-Beaverton area since mid-June.
On Thursday, Sept. 17, a 64-year-old West Linn man died after his motorcycle collided with a Toyota Camry on SW Cascade Avenue in Beaverton, according to the Beaverton Valley Times. Four days earlier, on Sept. 13, a 34-year-old Dallas, Oregon, man died in a motorcycle-versus-Tesla crash at SW Scholls Ferry Road and SW Loon Drive in Beaverton, the Beaverton Valley Times reported.
On June 15, 32-year-old Brandon Henderson of Albany died when his motorcycle collided with a Mercedes SUV on SW Scholls Ferry Road near SW Hillsboro Highway in Washington County, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. No arrests were made in that case.
The MCSO said additional details about Tuesday's crash will be released when available. Residents with information can contact the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.
