A 21-year-old arborist fell approximately 30 feet from a tree in the North Plains area on Oct. 27 and died at the scene, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The worker had been processing trees for future holiday decorations around 5 p.m. near Northwest Dixie Mountain Road and Northwest Northrup Road, sheriff's office Cpl. David Huey said, according to the Hillsboro News Times. KPTV first reported the death on Oct. 27.

Law enforcement officers and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue paramedics attempted lifesaving measures, but the 21-year-old died at the scene. A medical helicopter was initially requested to airlift the arborist but was canceled after the death was confirmed, according to TVF&R.

The sheriff's office determined the death was accidental, Huey said.

The arborist was a Washington state resident. Authorities have not released the worker's name. Huey said he did not have information about the company the arborist worked for or whether the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Oregon OSHA) was investigating the death.
