Westview's girls soccer team beat Sprague 1-0 in the OSAA 6A qualification round Wednesday, Oct. 28, punching its ticket to the state playoff bracket.
The Wildcats, seeded No. 17 in the 6A girls bracket, will travel to No. 16 McNary for a first-round game Saturday, Oct. 31, at 3 p.m. Under OSAA rules, the team with the better Adjusted Playoff Ranking (APR) hosts. That gives McNary the home field.
Westview posted a 9-4-2 overall record and a 3-2-1 mark in Metro League play this season, according to MaxPreps.
The win means both Westview soccer programs are alive in the 6A postseason. As we reported Oct. 28, the boys team also advanced through the qualification round.
Two other area girls teams are already in the bracket. Sunset, the No. 10 seed, hosts No. 23 Forest Grove on Saturday, Oct. 31, at noon. Mountainside, seeded No. 7, received a bye into Round 2 on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
The 6A quarterfinals are set for Nov. 7, semifinals for Nov. 10 and the championship game for Nov. 14 at Hillsboro Stadium.
