The Beaverton School District's finance team has earned the nation's top financial reporting award 45 years running.
BSD announced Wednesday, Sept. 2 that it received two national awards for its most recent Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, or ACFR. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 45th consecutive year. The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) awarded its Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 44th straight year.
The GFOA calls its certificate "the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting." Both awards recognize governments that go beyond standard requirements to provide clear, transparent financial information to their communities.
The ACFR is a detailed annual accounting of a district's finances, covering revenues, expenditures, debt and fund balances. It is a separate document from the district's annual budget. BSD earned a different pair of national awards from the same two organizations for its 2026-27 budget document on Aug. 26.
The streak is long. The 45-year GFOA run dates to the early 1980s.
Jessica Jones, BSD's chief financial officer, credited the Business Services finance team for the recognition. Jones said the team provides "clear and reliable financial information" that builds public trust in the district's financial management.
Finance Manager Jason Guchereau's team produces the ACFR each year for the fiscal year ending June 30, according to the district's ACFR page. The district's Audit Committee chair presented the most recent report to the school board on Dec. 9, 2025. Independent accounting firm REDW, based in Salem, audits the district's financial statements annually.
The awards carry no prize money but signal to families and taxpayers that BSD's books meet the highest national standards for government financial transparency. Residents can view the full ACFR on the district's website.
