Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District has a full slate of free events lined up for Bethany, Cedar Mill, and Oak Hills families through July. Most cost nothing.

Walk with Me at Waterhouse Park

THPRD's Walk with Me series stops at Waterhouse Park on July 8, at 9:30 a.m. A THPRD fitness instructor leads the guided walk, which meets at the Waterhouse Soccer Field entrance, 16351 NW Mission Oaks Dr. No registration required. The series visited Cedar Mill Creek Trail on Wednesday, July 1, keeping the route in Bethany and Cedar Mill neighborhoods for two consecutive weeks.

The walks run every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. through August 19, rotating to a different park or trail each week. All fitness levels are welcome.

Conestoga Block Party

July 12 brings the Conestoga Block Party to Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center, 9985 SW 125th Ave., Beaverton. The free event runs from 4–7 p.m. and celebrates Parks & Recreation Month with outdoor crafts, games, inflatables, and water play.

Beaverton Community Band concerts

The Beaverton Community Band, an all-volunteer group of adult musicians, performs two free Concerts in the Park in July. The first is July 11 at a venue THPRD has not yet posted. The second is July 25 from 5–7 p.m. at Ridgewood View Park, 10001 SW Ardenwood St. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Check thprd.org for the July 11 location.

Free gardening class: Growing Herbs

On July 16 from 10–11 a.m., THPRD hosts a free class on Growing Herbs at the Jenkins Estate Learning Garden, 8005 SW Grabhorn Rd., Beaverton. The workshop is part of a weekly Thursday series that has covered topics from native plants to waterwise gardening since June.

Summer Splash Day in Aloha

For families willing to make the drive, Summer Splash Day runs July 8, from 4–7 p.m. at Arnold Park, 4155 SW 182nd Ave., Aloha. Admission is $5 per child and includes water slides, splash games, bubbles, a live DJ, and food vendors. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Trail note for Rock Creek walkers

Clean Water Services plans to begin construction in July on Bethany Lake's berm and bank stabilization project, according to Cedar Mill News. The work will cause intermittent five-to-ten-minute trail closures along Rock Creek Trail west of the lake and up to one week of closure on the connector trail to NW Columbia Avenue.
