Families who visited Sky Zone Beaverton on July 18, between noon and 3 p.m. may have been exposed to measles, the Oregon Health Authority and Washington County Public Health announced on July 23.

The trampoline park at 10750 SW Denney Road sits about two miles from Bethany Village.

Anyone who was inside the facility during that three-hour window should contact their health care provider immediately, OHA said.

Oregon has recorded 32 confirmed measles cases in 2026, up from just one case in all of 2025, according to CDC state-level data. No measles deaths have been reported in Oregon this year.

What to watch for

Measles symptoms appear 7 to 21 days after exposure. That means someone exposed at Sky Zone on July 18 could develop symptoms as late as August 8.

Early signs include fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes. A rash typically follows, starting on the face and spreading to the rest of the body. The virus spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and particles can linger for up to two hours after the person leaves.

OHA urged anyone with symptoms to call their health care provider or urgent care center before showing up, to avoid exposing others in waiting rooms.

Who is most at risk

Infants and children under 5, adults older than 20, pregnant people, and those with weakened immune systems face the highest risk of severe illness, according to OHA.

In developed countries, measles kills 1 to 2 out of every 1,000 infected people, according to the CDC. Common complications include ear infections, lung infections, and diarrhea. Swelling of the brain is a rare but serious complication.

Vaccination

Two doses of the MMR vaccine are 97% effective at preventing measles, OHA said.

People who are up to date on their vaccines face very low risk of severe disease.

The CDC recommends children receive their first MMR dose between 12 and 15 months of age and a second dose between ages 4 and 6.

Nationally, 93% of 2026 measles cases have occurred among people who are unvaccinated or have unknown vaccination status, according to CDC data.

Multnomah County Health Officer Dr. Richard Bruno said in July that the county's kindergartner MMR vaccination rate hovers around 92%, just below the 95% threshold needed for herd immunity.

Residents who are unsure of their vaccination status or need to schedule an MMR dose can contact their health care provider or visit OHA's measles information page at oregon.gov/oha.

Monitoring timeline

OHA has not announced additional exposure sites or a follow-up briefing related to this case. The maximum incubation window for anyone exposed at Sky Zone closes on August 8.

Residents should monitor for symptoms through that date and call their provider if any appear.
