Democratic Rep. Andrea Salinas held a big lead over Republican David Russ in early returns in Oregon's 6th Congressional District (OR-6), the Statesman Journal reported on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The district covers parts of Washington County along with portions of Clackamas and Marion counties and all of Polk and Yamhill counties.

The Associated Press had not called the race as of election night. AP's live results page is tracking the OR-6 contest.

These are unofficial results. The Oregon Secretary of State's office reported 44.09% statewide voter turnout, with 1,282,797 ballots counted as of 8:45 p.m. on Nov. 3, according to results.oregonvotes.gov. Additional ballots remain to be counted.

Local ballot drop sites

Washington County voters could return ballots by mail, postmarked by the 8 p.m. deadline, or use any official drop box in the state. Oregon officials had urged voters to use drop boxes rather than mail in the final days before the election, according to KGW.

Nearby drop boxes included the Bethany Library at 15325 NW Central Dr. and the Cedar Mill Library at 1080 NW Saltzman Rd., both available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to Washington County Library Services. Voters with questions can reach Washington County Elections at 503-846-5800 or WashCoVotes.org.

The candidates

Salinas, a former Oregon state representative, is seeking a third term in Congress. Russ, a former Dundee mayor and business owner, is the Republican challenger. He also ran in the 6th District in 2022 and 2024, the Statesman Journal reported.

The Cook Political Report rated the district as "solid Democratic" in 2026, the Oregon Capital Chronicle reported in August. KGW's voter guide noted that Oregon's 4th, 5th and 6th districts are seen as more competitive than the state's other three, but polls showed all six Oregon incumbents in the lead.

A nonaffiliated candidate, Jason Faler, ended his campaign in August after collecting just under 3,000 of the roughly 3,500 signatures needed to qualify for the ballot, the Oregon Capital Chronicle reported. Faler, a combat veteran and former healthcare executive based in Tigard, left a two-candidate race.

Campaign fundraising

The most recent fundraising figures in the public record date to the end of 2025. Salinas raised $193,000 in the fourth quarter of that year and had $506,000 remaining in her campaign fund, the Oregon Capital Chronicle reported in February. Russ reported no fundraising or expenses that quarter but had $7,000 in his campaign fund.

What's next

Unofficial results will continue to be updated at results.oregonvotes.gov. The City of Hillsboro stated that final certified election results will be available Dec. 10.
