A 64-year-old Hillsboro man is in the Washington County Jail after detectives say he followed women from local businesses to their homes across the county since April 2026, a pattern that included at least one incident at a Beaverton business near the Bethany and Cedar Mill area.
Edward John Wilson was booked on six counts of stalking on Wednesday, July 29, after the Washington County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit connected reports from multiple women in Hillsboro, Aloha, Forest Grove, and Beaverton.
Detectives say surveillance video and other evidence show Wilson followed additional women beyond the six confirmed victims, and they are asking anyone in the area who may have been targeted to come forward.
The case broke open on Friday, July 24, when Wilson followed a woman from a Beaverton business to her home and parked in her driveway. The woman's family confronted him and scared him off, then called 911. Deputies initially arrested Wilson on two counts of second-degree disorderly conduct, and he was released on bail, according to KPTV.
After that arrest, deputies discovered Wilson had been reported for similar behavior multiple times since April 2026. Four other women had filed reports, but the cases were not initially connected because the locations spanned three cities. The Violent Crimes Unit took over and interviewed all of the victims.
The pattern
Wilson's method, according to the WCSO media release, was consistent: he would spot a woman at a business, follow her as she drove home, then park in her driveway or use his vehicle to block hers. When confronted, he drove away. Detectives developed probable cause for stalking five women and one child.
Vehicles to watch for
Detectives identified two vehicles Wilson used:
- 1977 off-white Chevy pickup with a distinctive all-red replacement front passenger door. Oregon plate 9U8319.
- Dark gray 2017 BMW X1 SUV. Oregon plate 421 KPD.
Wilson also had access to other vehicles, including a U-Haul pickup truck. He lives in the 800 block of SE 37th Avenue in Hillsboro.
What residents should do
The Sheriff's Office said detectives are deeply concerned about Wilson's behavior and want to hear from anyone who may have been affected. The investigation is ongoing.

Under Oregon law, stalking is a Class A misdemeanor on a first offense, carrying up to 364 days in jail and fines up to $6,250. It becomes a Class C felony if the person has a prior stalking conviction or violates a court order.
