Henry Hubbard's 20th-minute goal lifted Portland Community College men's soccer to the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) South Region championship Oct. 23 at the Rock Creek Campus.

The 1-0 shutout of Rogue Community College gave PCC its first region title since 2017 and just the second in program history, according to the college. The Panthers' defense held Rogue to five shots and recorded the team's sixth shutout of the season.

Hubbard took a pass from teammate Yahir Galindo near the top of the penalty area and fired a shot into the upper corner of the net. The Panthers protected that lead for the remaining 70 minutes.

The title arrived in head coach Hunter Hodgkins' first season leading the program. PCC announced Hodgkins' hiring in February. He came to the Panthers after coaching at St. Louis Catholic High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he led the team to a playoff appearance and earned 2025 Coach of the Year honors for Louisiana's District 3.

Hodgkins also brought Portland-area experience. He worked with Portland Timbers FC as a development coach in their Discovery Junior Program and as a camp director, and assisted with Centennial High School boys soccer.

At the time of the clinch, PCC stood at 8-1-2 overall and 6-1-2 in conference play, holding a six-point lead in the South Region with one regular-season game left. The Panthers' final regular-season record settled at 8-2-2 overall and 6-2-2 in conference, per the NWAC standings page.

PCC now turns to the NWAC postseason. The Round of 16 is scheduled for Nov. 4. The NWAC Championship Central lists the Final Four for Nov. 13 and Nov. 15 at Starfire Sports Stadium in Tukwila, Washington.
