Two restaurants near Bethany Village scored below 85 on Washington County health inspections in early September, part of a round that flagged repeat violations at three Beaverton-area establishments.

Rooster & Rice at 16055 S.W. Regatta Lane received the lowest score at 75, according to inspection results first reported by the Beaverton Valley Times. Hechalou Tea at 14657 S.W. Teal Blvd. scored 80, and Pacific Blends No. 2 at 16365 N.W. Twin Oaks Drive scored 83. A restaurant must score at least 70 to pass, according to Washington County Environmental Health.

All three passed.

At Rooster & Rice, an inspector watched a staff member walk in from outside the kitchen lobby, put on gloves and begin handling cooked chicken without washing their hands. Staff stopped food prep and changed gloves. The inspector also found cooked chicken stored at improper temperatures and expired tofu in a cooler. The restaurant had been making its own dressings and keeping them longer than a week, a repeat violation.

Hechalou Tea drew two repeat violations. Eggs were stored above bottles of juice in a cooler, and containers of dairy and non-dairy milk sat on the counter at improper temperatures. The person in charge moved milk containers that had been out for more than two hours into a cooler. Inspectors also found black growth along the edge of an ice machine and unlabeled cans that the person in charge said contained aloe.

Pacific Blends No. 2, located in the Twin Oaks Drive shopping area near Bethany, had a sauce container blocking its handwashing sink and no hot water at any sink until the taps ran for several minutes. An overflowing container of eggs sat above cooked tofu and sauce in the prep cooler. Prepared items including cooked pasta, macaroni salad, cooked tofu and chopped vegetables had no date marks, a repeat violation. The grill and hood were discolored black with built-up grease and debris.

In Bethany, two spots earned perfect scores. The Starbucks at 4720 N.W. Bethany Blvd. and Poke Delight Bethany at 16365 N.W. Twin Oaks Drive both scored 100. Chorizo Hub, at the same Twin Oaks Drive address, also received a perfect mark.

In all, 20 Beaverton-area restaurants earned 100s in the early September round. The list includes Killer Burger and Firehouse Subs on Cedar Hills Boulevard, Nekter Juice Bar on Teal Boulevard, Wingstop on Barrows Road and Wildfin American Grill on Cedar Hills Boulevard.
