Bethany and Cedar Mill libraries offer a full October lineup, with a Halloween hunt, a teen glass mosaic workshop and free citizenship classes across three locations.
The annual Bethany Village Halloween Hunt returns Saturday, Oct. 31, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Bethany Library, 15325 NW Central Drive, Suite J-8y. Visitors of all ages can drop by for a treat, according to the libraries' October programming calendar.
Families also won't want to miss the Fall Fest & Maze on Friday, Oct. 23, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Mill Library, 1080 NW Saltzman Rd. The after-hours event features a library maze, games and other activities. Costumes are encouraged.
A standout for teens is a two-day Glass on Glass Mosaic workshop led by local artist Sharon Dunham. Day one runs Friday, Oct. 30, from 2 to 4 p.m., and day two picks up Saturday, Oct. 31, from 11 a.m. to noon, both at Cedar Mill Library. Teens ages 11 to 18 will cut glass shards, arrange them on plexiglass and apply grout to create a finished piece. Registration is required, and participants must attend both sessions.
Beyond the seasonal events, a free 12-week citizenship class is already underway at Bethany Library Annex, 4888 NW Bethany Blvd., Suite K-2. The Tuesday evening sessions, running through Dec. 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., are provided by SOAR Immigration Legal Services. Each week covers one topic to help adults prepare for the U.S. naturalization interview and exam. Classes are taught in English, with resources available in Spanish and other languages. Participants can attend one session or all of them.
Adults and teens looking for creative outlets can sign up for a DIY Ribbon Charm Bookmarks workshop on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Bethany Library Annex. Supplies are provided. Registration is required.
Writers and curious residents can attend Writers' Mill meets AI on Sunday, Oct. 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Cedar Mill Library and on Zoom. Matt Carter will present on artificial intelligence tools for writers and creatives. The session is free and open to everyone.

- Saturday, Oct. 10: Shatter the Silence with Rock Dojo, a live electric guitar concert and comic book storytelling experience for ages 6 to 12, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cedar Mill Library. Sponsored by the Cultural Coalition of Washington County.
- Saturday, Oct. 17: Pumpkin Storytime and Craft for ages 2 to 6, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at Cedar Mill Library, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the library's Bookshare program.
- Friday, Oct. 30: Diwali Craft for ages 3 and up, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Bethany Library Annex. Participants create a Rangoli craft with provided materials. Adult supervision required.
